The Wonder of Birds

What are birds?

A bird is a vertebrate, a creature with a backbone inside their body. They evolved from feathered dinosaurs. Birds are fascinating, magnificent animals and are also known as avians. They have character traits we can easily identify with: cheeky and shy, gentle and vicious, faithful and faithless. Avians are a part of our world, yet with a flick of their tails they lift into the air and vanish into a world that we can only envy.

Birds Today

Birds today are diminishing in numbers because of habitat loss, climate change, pollution, predation (the hunting of birds by predators) and over fishing of our waters (this affects the sea birds who live on the coasts and feed on crustaceans and fish).
