Extinct Birds

Some incredible birds from the past have sadly vanished and won't see our world today. Among these extinct avians are the magnificent moas, once the largest birds to ever roam the earth! They had a fascinating resemblance to ostriches, leaving us in awe of their grandeur!

Check out these fascinating examples of birds that have sadly flown into extinction!

Firstly, let's start with the Labrador Duck, a duck species native to North America. With black and white plumage and a yellow and black tipped bill, this bird might have become extinct due to habitat destruction along the shoreline and starvation.

Secondly,  let's soar over to admire the Passenger Pigeon! This fascinating avian has light grey flight feathers and a coral red breast.  Possibly, the reason behind its tragic extinction was mainly habitat loss and the overhunting of their species.

Our fabulous final bird is the Carolina Parakeet.  This enchanting bird is adorned with lime green flight feathers, a golden-yellow head and splashes of citrus orange around its eyes. Factors that could have triggered its extinction were hunting, loss of habitat and the pet trade.
